[0103]

When a man must force himself to be faithful in his love, this is hardly better than unfaithfulness.
-- French writer, Francois de La Rochefoucauld.

Maximes and Memoirs, both fabulous reads by Rochefoucauld, have an intense variation when it comes to reading 17th century work. Gentle cynicism; exactly what helps me get through my days currently. I'm at a crossroads at figuring out who exactly I am and he says things like "a refusal of praise is but a desire to be praised twice." If you think about it, how true is that? Very. He helps define moments in my young life, however profound that sounds. After all, you are what you read.
